Safety Harbor Florida
Safety Harbor Florida is a beautiful, eclectic town located directly on the shores of Old Tampa Bay. Convenient to both Tampa and the Gulf Beaches, Safety Harbor is home to the internationally recognized Safety Harbor Spa, as well as Philippe Park. Philippe Park is a 160 acre park at the southern end of Safety Harbor that includes a boat ramp, playground, picnic shelters, miles of hiking trails and the Native American Tocobaga Tribe’s mounds. The park is on the National Register of Historic Landmarks due to these mounds and the fact that Count Odet Philippe once called Safety Harbor his home back. Count Odet Philippe, of Lyon France, is responsible for the citrus industry taking off as it did in Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties back in the 19th Century.
Today Safety Harbor Florida is home to numerous boutiques and shops along Main Street and the adjacent streets, as well as a variety of unique restaurants and cafes. This eclectic town has a wonderful Farmer’s Market and other community events that take place on brick lined Main Street. Safety Harbor Florida also has a wonderful public library, excellent schools and is known far and wide for the breathtakingly beautiful Live Oak trees found throughout town and in Philippe Park.
Safety Harbor Florida is minutes from the Gulf Beaches and a great destination to launch your kayak right into the waters of Old Tampa Bay, where fishing from boats as well as from shore is extremely popular. Veteran’s Park offers a great fishing pier, just south of Safety Harbor Spa.
